The New Defend Trade Secrets Act (DTSA) makes theft of trade secrets a federal action. The DTSA allows employers to have federal agents seize property incuding computers that may contain trade secrets. However, employers can't stop former employees from taking new jobs simply because of what they know. Instead, injunctions only prevent misappropriation of specific information. Former employees can also collect attorneys fees for DTSA actions taken in bad faith.
